    They will most definately sound different. The older (black) unit will have a modicum more effeciency, not to mention a different operating impedance. The design paradigm about the horn section is considerably eveolved as well. I'd shop out another "E" model, and consider them matched.

    BTW, the older one is a little more valuable to a collector.....sell & buy.

    Hello, Thanks for the responses below. I want to trade my Khorns for a pair of 604s in bass reflex cabinets but there is a little problem. One driver is a 604(no letter), black, 20 ohm, with paper surround. Crossover is a N2000. The other one is a 604E, grey, with sticky accordian surround, N1500 crossover, 8-16 ohm imp. Is this a serious mismatch in drivers that will prevent me from getting the best performance? If yes, what would it take to make it right. Any input would be appreciated.
